Tumiki
A moment to unwind in the city.
At Tumiki in Nagaokakyo, Kyoto Prefecture, lunch plates feature homemade cream croquettes, Kamiyama chicken, and seasonal vegetables alongside kid-friendly options and handmade desserts.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
A colorful spread fills the plate: a crisp, homemade cream croquette, fragrant grilled Kamiyama chicken thigh, seasonal vegetable side dishes, and multigrain rice. At Tumiki, a welcoming cafe in Nagaokakyo, Kyoto Prefecture, the signature Tumiki Plate is composed like a hearty set meal, pairing sides that highlight the natural qualities of seasonal produce with a bowl of soup. Thoughtful touches reflect the calendar, including chilled soups during the summer months.
The daytime menu offers several variations to suit different appetites and preferences. Options range from the Tsukune Plate, featuring seasoned Kamiyama chicken patties and a smaller portion of multigrain rice, to the lighter Chokotto Plate, and the generous Chimitaka Plate, which combines both chicken patties and grilled thigh with a serving of spicy curry. Made from a blend of spices without flour-based roux, the house curry can also be adjusted for heat upon request.
Thoughtful accommodations make visiting with young children easy and stress-free. Designed for primary school students and younger, the Kids Plate gathers a homemade cream croquette, additive-free sausage, and an onigiri rice ball, with drinks such as craft cola and apple juice available in half sizes. The kitchen also pays close attention to food allergies, routinely checking ingredients at the time of ordering.
After a meal or during an afternoon break, the cafe serves handmade sweets such as daily cakes, muffins, and a cookie ice cream sandwich available exclusively with lunch orders. These pair naturally with house-crafted cola, hot ginger tea, or freshly brewed coffee. Takeout is also well supported, with baked goods and Tumiki Bento boxes containing the signature cream croquette available to go. Advance reservations are accepted, and dedicated parking is available on site for those arriving by car.
